Conhecido como o Toninho, da tia L\u00facia e tio H\u00e9lio &#8211; irm\u00e3o da escritora e jornalista Leila Ferreira, do ex-prefeito de Arax\u00e1 Paulo M\u00e1rcio Ferreira, do saudoso jornalista da TV Globo, Ronan Ferreira, do\u00a0 J\u00falio e do Eliseu. Dirceu deixa boas recorda\u00e7\u00f5es, alegres e divertidas prosas, al\u00e9m de seus divertidos livros de humor. Foi atuante redator do lend\u00e1rio jornal O Pasquim no Rio de Janeiro, durante o regime militar.
